Fourth Pig partners with Muskoka North Good Food Co-op to build their store and food hub

Cooperatives are dedicated to cooperating with each other (it is called the "co-operation among co-operatives" principle). Here at the Fourth Pig we are very proud to be the project managers to build Muskoka North Good Food Co-op's community-owned grocery store and food hub. Using an integrated design/build process we are working with Terrell Wong, architect from Stone’s Throw Design and Granite Engineering Services.

The mission of the Muskoka North Good Food Co-op is to "Provide our community access to the best regional, sustainable, safe, and environmentally conscious food through the development of a community-owned grocery store and educational food center. The MNGFC provides fair value to producers for their products and living wage models for its staff while promoting co-operative value and participation." This sustainability mission matches well with the mission of the Fourth Pig, "To foster ecologically balanced methods of construction and energy production in order to promote more sustainable and healthy communities." This project is in the design phase and we are looking forward to helping to build a wonderful, energy efficient, environmentally friendly building.
