The Fourth Pig Worker Co-op

was founded in 2007 as a non-profit working in sustainable building design and construction, “green” education, and renewable energy installation.

Members of the Fourth Pig bring years of experience in natural building including straw bale homes, green retro-fitting, cob, rammed earth, earth bag, post and beam, passive and active solar design and installation, as well as years of adult education experience.

Our sustainable shelter model has many features including:

  1. natural, non-toxic and health focused materials and design

  2. life-cycle management of building materials

  3. local materials sourcing

  4. solar design for efficient heating, cooling, lighting

  5. energy conservation measures

Sustainable building means a cleaner environment, more efficient energy generation and use, more effective use of building materials, less toxic living spaces.

Our mission: To foster ecologically balanced methods of construction and energy production in order to promote more sustainable and healthy communities
